The Rope

It took some time but now they’re gone, all them dreams of gold.
He was scared of trying, scared of losing and scared of getting old.
Staring at the sky and at the ceiling, looking for a break, as time it took what it could take.
Taking all he had and it made him feel so bad, to watch it all just slip away.

One day he realized that it was too late he had waited much too long.
All his dreams and expectations had faded and were nowhere to be found.
But farther down the line he thought that he could see a glimpse of hope but, it just might have been the rope.
The rope that had him tied ever since he was a child, for a reason god only knows.

It’s the same old song, you see your chances when they’re gone.
So open up your eyes, and let your chances come in sight.
Then you might find, all the things you thought you lacked when you were blind.
But it’s hard to build a hope. And when you tied down by the rope, it won’t let you loose again.

Something in her eyes made him sure she’d never understand. Something in her ways got him thinking that it was too late again.
So he loosened up this rope that were never ever meant to be untied, now in his loneliness he cries.
Somewhere deep within he felt his one and only sin, might have been the biggest one of all.

There’s no escape from your burden.
You can’t fight something you don’t see.
Nothing is for free.

It’s the same old song, you see your chances when they’re gone.
So open up your eyes, and let your chances come in sight.
Then you might find, all the things you thought you lacked when you were blind.
But it’s hard to build a hope. And when you tied down by the rope, it won’t let you loose again.
